What developments should we expect in crop and feed prices, in both the short and long term? In this talk, I will also discuss prospects for currency, raw materials and the stock market.

In present years, agriculture is not only challenged on the bottom line, but also in terms of access to foreign labour, environmental requirements in the form of spray restrictions, requirements for the efficient use of nitrogen and a climate that will become more changeable. Meanwhile, the intelligent use of agronomy and new technologies provide exciting opportunities to respond to these challenges. Some technologies are already on the market, while others will be making their way in over the years ahead. Work also needs to be done on soil fertility and sustainability, where erosion and soil compaction are some of the threats we face. There is a great deal of potential in new technologies, but existing technologies can also be optimised. Talk with Christina Boutrup, journalist, author and speaker.  

China is on the verge of overtaking the United States as the largest world economy and the conversion from “Made in China” to “Made by China” is well underway. The Chinese school system is still best known for producing well-disciplined “robots”, but innovation is flourishing and Chinese companies have begun in earnest to take market share from Western companies. Despite censorship and state control, Chinese technology companies have proven to be at the cutting edge of new digital business models and, among other things, are now global leaders in drones, finetech, e-commerce, social media and, most likely in the near future, artificial intelligence. Learn what is driving innovation in the world’s new superpower and what the implications are for Danish agriculture.

11.30-12.00 // THE WORLD IS OPENING UP TO DANISH AGRICULTURE
Talk by Jørgen P. Jensen, global journalist at the journal “Effektivt Landbrug” (“Effective Agriculture”)

A new, gigantic market for both Danish agricultural goods and Danish agro-industry is expected to emerge in the near future in India, the largest agricultural nation in the world. Many in Danish agriculture consider India a booming market, in the same way as China was 15 years ago.

Japan is, by way of contrast, one of Danish agriculture’s most well-established and lucrative markets, where high value consumers are demanding even more agricultural produce from Denmark.

This year, the journal Effektivt Landbrug has been on reporting assignments in India, Japan and other countries all over the world, and this talk will present an overall assessment of the global opportunities for Danish agriculture in the years ahead. 

12.00-12.30 // THE 17 GOALS FOR SUSTAINABLE GLOBAL DEVELOPMENT

“The Global Goals” is becoming a familiar name for the 17 goals for sustainable global development. These goals were adopted by the United Nations in September 2015 and concern all people in all countries.

What is the background to these goals? How do these goals affect Denmark and Danish agriculture? Has Denmark almost fulfilled these goals? Aren’t these goals mostly a matter for developing countries. In his lecture, Steen Hildebrandt will talk about these issues and suggest reflection upon how the individual family and enterprise can and must relate to these sustainable development goals.

Talk by Andrea Oddershede, Special parks and environmental consultant. 

“More nature! Better nature! Yes please! Many farmers have a particular affinity with nature and are therefore interested in its continued existence, while ensuring that there is still space for production.

The speakers will talk about specific environmental measures that invite flora, bird life, bees and butterflies into the farm and about how farmers can make a difference and how they can benefit by doing so.”

Agriculture is one of the major managers of the earth's resources. This means that we have a responsibility for the balance between the economy, natural resources and ethically responsible production.
Working with a circular economy ensures better management of the world's resources, while at the same time giving companies new economic opportunities. This requires an action-oriented effort towards better branding, supplier management, certification and documentation.

Talk by Peter Tanev, Meteorologist at TV2’s Weather Forecast

Peter Tanev talks about why the climate is changing and what will happen to our climate and weather in the future.

Issues discussed will include a look ahead at the extreme weather that is likely to faced by agriculture and a look at weather and climate conditions that may already have changed and that will become more extreme in the future. 

NutriFair 2019 will be focusing on Bio Energy. There will be industry-relevant talks on the stage and there will also be particular focus on the exhibitors with relevant products.
